I did a general loose-hair cleanup on Heidi's almost eight-month-old dreads, and then I extended the ones that were ready to be extended. She'd been wearing synthetic extensions and was looking for a more permanent solution. There were only a handful on each side that couldn't be extended, and she agreed it was better to leave them be while they do their thing and lock up a little more. Heidi prefers a slightly messy aesthetic, so I got her large clumps of loose hair tucked away, and left some of the fuzz to keep it looking a wild. I also removed the many yarn bits that she used to tie in the synthetic extensions.

Here are the post-maintenance shots. The ends were left loose for a couple inches to help connect the extensions.

Here are the post-extension shots. The extensions were black at Heidi's request, and you can see some of the reddish variation in her hair contrasting with the extensions. This color variance is much more subtle in person as my camera has a tendency to pop colors.
